Construction Licensing Executives

On November 2nd, the PHCC of GA board of directors held its fall meeting and luncheon with special guests from the Professional Construction Licensing Boards. Executive Director Deborah Beard and Josh Waters, Operations and Compliance Manager spoke to the attendees about the licensing process and ways to assist technicians in obtaining their licenses. One big change shared with the group is that approved applications are only valid for one year instead of being good for a two year time period. If you’ve submitted an application be sure to sign up to take your exam within that time frame. According to Josh Waters most applications are processed within 18 days if it is a “clean” application. Many times the applicant does not included all three notarized copies of his/her reference letters. READ MORE

TN PHCC Elects Kay Keefe President
How did you get started in your business?
I started working for my dad when I was 15 years old at our parts counter on weekends and after school. After my freshman year of college, my dad let me work on the trucks as a plumbers helper. I unstopped sewers, laid pipe in ditches and changed out pipes under houses. My dad’s motive was to get me to see how hard plumbing was and learn the value of a dollar. After that first summer, I quit college and decided that I really wanted to be a plumber. At the end of the day, you truly feel a sense of accomplishment that you helped someone and that kind of gratitude only comes when you are a trained tradesperson.
What do you enjoy most about your business?
I really enjoy interacting with my customers and my employees. There is tremendous pride in owning a company that is 66 years old and carrying on the family legacy of professionalism and quality service and installation. READ MORE
