In 2014, PHCC GA began the long and arduous process of starting an Apprenticeship program for plumbing in Georgia. Under the leadership of Chip Greene, Past PHCC NA President, Greene & Associates, Macon and Ellen Whitaker, PHCC GA Executive Director the hard work finally paid off when the Academy received US Department of Labor approval on January 7, 2015. It was a group effort with the support and financial assistance of several contractor and vendor members. Within six month, the fledgling year one plumbing class began with three student in Metro Atlanta and in Macon. In an effort to meet the demands of contractors who schedule and require employees travel across the state to various job sites, PHCC GA Academy got approval to utilize PHCC Educational Foundation E-Learning online apprenticeship program. Beginning with a pilot of one student, the program has since greatly expanded and now includes HVACR training. Fast forward to today and the Academy proudly has a roster of 30 enrolled students. Our first class of apprentices will graduate in 2020 with a class of twenty in 2021. If your company has technicians working on prevailing wage jobs and/or travel large distances between jobs contact us to discuss how the E-Learning program can help you train and retain your skilled workers.
