SWA to Host 89th Annual Convention In Hilton Head

This year's Southern Wholesalers Association Convention is being held at the beautiful Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa, Sunday June 25, through Tuesday, June 27th. The amenities, family atmosphere, and great location were reasons for SWA choosing this venue. SWA has a packed program planned with emphasis on Leadership, Technology and Communication. There will be a Suppliers Advisory Lunch Meeting that is a focused opportunity for the SWA Executive Committee to say thank you and hear ideas and suggestions from manufacturers and rep agencies, who are member companies and who consistently support SWA.

Through these discussions, many changes have been made in the SWA convention format to enhance the value of the event for manufacturers and rep agencies. These valued partners also assist SWA with membership recruitment and other initiatives throughout the year. There will also be The Leadership Development Council which is specifically designed to establish a professional network of emerging leaders in our industry. The group is also focused on the future of SWA and assisting in driving the direction of the organization for years to come. The workshops on Sunday afternoon will be presented by Alan Zimmerman an expert on customer communication and driving sales which should be a great value for all attendees. Sunday evening is our opening reception and a great time to begin connecting with friends prior to everyone heading off on their business dinner plans. Our Keynote Address at our Monday morning business breakfast will be the former CEO of Harley Davidson Ken Schmidt. At the Industry Forum, he will expound upon his Keynote Address remarks in a more intimate atmosphere where questions and answers will drive the discussion. The SWA golf tournament follows this and already has 116 players registered to play with generous sponsors filling up each hole. The evening is then set for companies to get together for dinner on their own. Tuesday morning is 4 hours of 10 minute business meetings.

The Conference Booth program will allow for formal networking between vendors, reps, and wholesalers, but there will be plenty of other opportunities to catch up with old friends. The afternoon is open and typically attendees are seen by the pool or beach networking and getting to know each other's families. Some head off to play golf together or go on a fishing charter. Some may argue much more relationship building happens during this aspect of the event. Lastly, all delegates, spouses and children are invited to attend the casual closing party, listen to the band, eat some great food and share some good memories. Golf awards will be presented. SWA's schedule allows for plenty of leisure time, so please bring your family. The hotel is selling out, over 1000 room nights have been booked already so they will be providing overflow hotel information once Marriott is full.
