Pete Cook, President of plumbing wholesale channel manufacturer’s representative United Sales Agency says the company completed a buy out of KSM-Delta Sales in which all assets and employees of the two companies were combined last August. Cook explained that much about the company’s operations has changed in the past several months. United Sales closed the Marietta office it had occupied for over twenty years to take advantage of the 20,000-square foot office and warehouse that KSM-Delta had been operating out of. The new operation literally doubled and the footprint of the company is much more significant in terms of size and coverage both inside and out. The biggest change might just be the one that is least seen. “While we all enjoy what we do, there was significant need for change for both groups. This was a serious B-12 injection of sorts for all of us. We believe that people need to have a vision that is both challenging and scary. We’ve got that now” Cook proclaimed with a wry smile that belies nearly 40 years in the rep business. He described the acquisition as extraordinarily unusual. “We had been wanting to grow and possibly add the warehouse component, but we just hadn’t been able to get to the tipping point to make it happen. Opportunities like this don’t just come along every day…there were very few conflicts and it was a fit for both companies’ needs.” United Sales has expanded their profile into the Tennessee and Alabama markets as well as strategic parts of Kentucky and northwest Florida. “From the beginning we felt like this had the potential to be a marriage made in heaven. We already had the feet on the street, and this immediately put us in the warehouse business without going through many of the growing pains, all the infrastructure was already in place.” United Sales Agency is an independent plumbing manufacturer’s representative currently under contract with Bootz Industries, Central Brass, Colonial Engineering, Fernco, Grundfos, Hamilton Bathware, Haws Corporation, Intersan (Represented only in TN), Jones Stephens Corp., Legend Valve, Liberty Pumps, Milwaukee Tools, Olympia Faucets, Pioneer Industries, Plastic Trends, Stiebel Eltron and Zurn Pex.
